Basant Panchami :
Basant Panchami or Vasant Panchami is one of the major festivals of Hindu religion and it is most popular part of culture in Northern states of India. The word Vasant means the season of spring and the word Panchami means the fifth day after the celebration of Amavashya of Magh month of Hindu calendar.
It is the festival which is celebrated by the most of the communities of India as a celebration of arrival of the spring season. It is the time of joy and happiness among the people of rural India.
Basant Panchami is a fully a festival associated with the natures there is no spiritual tale as like the other festivals of India. It is most famous in North parts of the country. According to the people from those parts it is the day of lord Krishna. Bhagwat Gita described that Vasant is one of the major forms of Lord Krishna. That day people prefer to wear yellow color for most of the activities.
Vasant Panchami is the celebration of welcoming colorful spring season after the season of harsh winter. In northern India people worshipped the goddess of knowledge “Saraswati”. In schools students and teachers prays her. On that day people also performed the Pitru Trapan for their ancestors of the day. They also perform many other ritual acts.
