Bhang Thandai Recipe

Bhang is a popular Indian beverage prepared from the leaves and tender flower buds of the female cannabis plant. Bhang is a favorite drink in the Indian sub-continent. The people of India consume Bhang as a part of the celebrations during the Holi or the Festival of colors.

Indians consider Bhang to be auspicious and is associated with Lord Shiva. Today, consuming bhang has become a daily practice. Although, bhang can give you a hangover, it is not considered to be a drug.

Indians have been consuming since ages as a natural appetizer. The bhang can be best enjoyed only if it is prepared well. If you want to consume Bhang, the bhang recipe can help you.

Ingredients for Bhang :

Take 1&1/2 cup water into the cutlery, then add 15 gms of cannabis leaves and buds and 2&1/2 cups of warm milk, then add 1/4 table spoon poppy seeds, mix all the  ingredients properly. In the second step take half tea spoon of cinnamon powder, half cup sugar and one forth tea spoon of cardamom powder and half table spoon of rose water n dried rose petals. For enriching the taste even more add half table spoon of chopped pistachios, cashew nuts and almonds’.

Method of Bhang Preparation:

Once you have the Ingredients ready, you can start preparing the Bhang. Cleanse the cannabis leaves and buds by removing the seeds and sticks and wash it thoroughly in tap water. Then boil a pot of water and all the ingredients to it. Keep only sugar milk aside. Allow the water to boil with all the ingredients on slow flame for about 10-15 minutes. Then strain the liquid and keep the aside

Add about 1-2 tbsp of warm milk to the strained ingredients and grind it on a stone grinder. Press the mixture with your hand and collect all the liquid in a separate vessel. Add the extracted liquid to the liquid kept aside, add sugar to the mixture and stir it well. Cool the mixture for about 2-3 hours and then serve in mud vessel.
