Durga Puja Festival of Calcutta

This Durga pooja festival come twice a year first in month of march and then September-october. On this festival people can puja and pray for health & wealth. Durga Puja is celebrating in nine nights specially in Calcutta of India. It is only one festival which celebrate in nine nights.

During this festival heavy rush in the market. In Calcutta city Sweets shop and other shops are specially decorated. People make purchases, they purchases sweets, toys, earthen lamps, fire -works and crackers. A list is also prepared for gifts meant for relatives and friends.

During this festival people organize function of dance (Garba). this function of dance organize in the big ground of the city. All family members goes to function and dance with great joy.

At the last day people arrange majestic procession idol of goddess of durga(Shakti). the procession goes to the main markets of the city with a great dance, music and joy. finally they goes to river or sea beach and immerse which is also known as Durga visarjan. people says “Jai Mata Di“. and the festivals ends here.
