To take Christian music in New Zealand to unprecedented levels & to use music both locally and globally to move people closer to Jesus Christ. It is a part of the wider vision and direction of Parachute Music. to get a top priority for us because it plays a huge role in raising the standard of Christian music in New Zealand and gets many non-Christians interacting with Christians and exposes them to the Gospel message.
The Christian Music festival starts before Parachute was birthed as an organisation. Mark Pierson, a Baptist Pastor in Wellington, meet with Mark de Jong (now Parachute Music’s Director) and extended an invitation to partner with him in developing a Christian music festival. The pair joined with a few others and initiated a music festival called Main stage.
