Diwali is a series of festivals, one by another. It is five days festival. Naraka Chaturdashi is the second day of Diwali festival. It is celebrated in fourteenth fortnight of the month of kartika.

The day is also named as Rupchaudhasi festival. Choti Diwali celebrated in the memory of lord Krishna killed Narkasura on that day. So it is called as Narakachaturdhasi and symbolizes a victory of righteousness over darkness.

Legend Behind Naraka Chaturdashi Festival Celebration:

Choti diwali or Nark chaturdhasi is the day on which Lord Krishna killed Narakasura demon and made free the earth by his fear. Narakasura killed by Lord Krishna by the help of Krishna’s wife Satyabhama. Narakasura was very mysterious demon of Treta Yug.

He was the son of Bhoomi Devi but he was converted in demon by the association of evils. The day of Choti Diwali has a significance role as well as the day of dhanteras in this festival.

Choti Diwali is a part of this festival. On this occasion people cleans their houses and decorated it by the rows of diyas and lamps. People perform various rituals to follow the tradition of this festival. Next day after choti diwali celebrated as the main festival day of diwali.

The People enjoy on the day with fire works and distributes sweets with lots of best wishes to their well wishers.
