History of The New Year Day:

A roman king who named Julius Caesar had declared New Year day on the 1st January. The day is entirely committed to the Roman god Janus. It is believed by the Roman peoples the god Janus is a god of starting, gates and doors. The name of January had also revealed after the Janus.

According to mythology god Janus had double faces. One facing ahead and the other was facing behind. Some scholars believed that the day observed in 153 BC. Christian community celebrates Christian festival during this period. On the occasion of New Year day Christian people held a religious feast. It is a one of the best ritual of Christian religion.

Around the 7th century a new tradition is also start in the Netherland. The tradition was that to give gifts and greets to each other on this day. Before the year of 1752, in England ‘the buffet of Annunciation’ was held on the

day of 25 March and this day was celebrated as a New Year.
