For example, Holi is a festival of colors and is celebrated mostly in northern part of India. This festival symbolizes the victory of good over evil.

According to the legend related to Holi festival, king Hiranyakashyap and his sister Holika tried to kill Prahlad by taking him into fire. Holika had a boon that no fire can harm her but Prahlad nullified her blessing and Holika got died in fire. Prahlad came out safely from that fire.

Navratri festival is very popular in west Bengal and is celebrated for 9 days. This festival is filled with laughter, joy and excitement. At this time of this festival people worship three goddess named Durga, Laxmi and Saraswati.

Diwali is another most popular festival celebrated all over India. According to the legend related to this festival, Lord Ram came back Ayodhya after 14 years of excile and after killing the devil king Ravana. So, this festival is celebrated by people in love of their lord Ram.

Teej which is a festival of Rajasthan symbolizes the onset of monsoon; Dusshera is celebrated to memorize the victory of Lord Ram over devil Ravana. Other then these, there is a long list of festivals that are celebrated in India. All these festivals bring out joy and prosperity among Indians.
