The word of diwali is actually adopted from the word of sanskrit word deepawali. It is as important occasion for Hindus as the Christmas to the Christians.

It held during the month of kartika of Hindu calendar and October/November months of western calendar. Diwali is the festival of worship of goddess Laxmi also known as the goddess of wealth.
