Ganesh Chaturthi Festival Celebration 2012
Ganesh Chaturthi Festival is one of the most auspicious and widely celebrated Hindu festivals of India. This festival dedicated to lord Ganesh and celebrated as birth day of lord Ganesh.
This festival falls on fourth day of Shukla Paksha (full moon night) in the month of Bhaadrapada according to the Hindu calendar. Usually this festival falls in the month of August-September annually. The festival remains for ten days, ending on Anant Chaturdashi.
Ganesh Chaturthi festival is a well known festival of lord Ganesh, the god of wisdom and prosperity, whose vehicle is the Mooshak or rat and who loves Modaks (Indian Sweets Laddu). Lord Ganesh is invoked before the beginning of any auspicious work by the Hindus. The festival begins from installation of image of lord Ganesha in homes and public places and colorfully decorated. Ganesh Chturthi Festival is very popular festival specially celebrated in India. Ganesh, the elephant headed son of lord Shiva and Parvati.
Lord Ganesha is widely worshiped as the supreme god of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. During this festival people observe fast and go to temple of lord Ganesh to pray for peace and prosperity.
