Ganesh Chaturthi Festival is a birthday of lord Ganesha which is celebrated in a big manner. It has many rituals like Pran pratishtha, Shhodashopchara, Ganesh Visarjan etc.
Lord Ganesha has a Rat as a his Sawari, that is why lord Ganesha is known as a “Mushak Sawaar”. According to Vedas lord Ganesha was created by goddess Parvati. Goddess Parvati used soil to create Ganesha.
History of The Festival Ganesh Chaturthi:
Before the year of 1893, Ganesh Chaturthi festival was supposed a significant family festival in Maharashtra. That time was Peshwa Rulers. After a long struggle of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak that was known as a Indian freedom fighter and social reformer, Ganesh Chaturthi modified as a annual festival. It was such a great effort made by Lokmanya Tilak.
He said the lord Ganesha is a god of everybody. He did appeal to the people of higher, middle and lower class to celebrate this festival with similarity. He developed a sentiment of brotherhood among the people. It is a big step towards the National Unity. It is believed that Lokmanya Tilak had started the ritual of Ganesh Visarjan.
Behind all this, his main objective was that he wants to develop people unity against the British Rule. He wants freedom of India.
