words of Sikh Gurus. The Guru Granth Sahib is a holy scripture of the world and is the endless Guru of the Sikhs. It is a scripture suitable of a universal religion.

Many other philosophers and holy men consider as an exceptional fortune and a good tradition for all people. The holy words of Sri Guru Granth Sahib are called Gurbani; it means the Guru’s word or the song messages enshrined in Sri Guru Granth Sahib. The Sikhs observe Sri Guru Granth Sahib as a complete, sacred and final message for them. There is to be no word beyond the Word of Guru Granth Sahib. The last guru, Guru Gobind Singh, spoke to the assembly on October 20, 1708.

Sri Guru Granth Sahib contains hymns of 36 composers written in 22 languages and its Gurumukhi script is on 1430 pages in 511874 words 1720345 characters and 28534 lines. It has been conserved in its original format since its last conclusion by Guru Gobind Singh in 1705. The Sikhs are modest and grateful to be chosen by Guru Gobind Singh. Shri Guru Gobind Singh has assigned Sikhs as keepers of the light of Guru Granth Sahib on the day 20 October 1708.
