Holi Festival is colorful festival that is celebrated in all over the country. It has such a great spiritual significance for the Hindu Religion. It takes place on the day of the purnima in the month of Phalgun. The last day of the year is Phalgun Purnima. From the next day spring season starts with the new year. An Ancient Story of Holi Festival:
In the Bengal and Orissa, holi festival is celebrated to mark the birthday of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Literally meaning
of the holi is ‘burning’. There are different myths related to this word. One of the most important legends is associated with king Hiranyakashyap.
He was a demon king such a cruel person. He wanted that in his kingdom no one will be worship to other gods. There were only one god and that was Hiranyakashyap. But unfortunately his son which named Prahlad, he was a true devotee of lord Vishnu. Hiranyakashyap was very annoyed with his son.
He tried many times to kill his son Prahlad but all efforts were ruin because of his true devotion for lord Vishnu. At last Hiranyakashyap called his sister which name was Holika. She had a boon that fire was not harmful for her.
But it will be work only when she enters into the fire alone. Hiranyakashyap said her to enter her in the fire with his son Prahlad. As a result Holika had burned and Prahlad was saved by the mercy of lord Vishnu for his true and
