Jaisalmer Desert Festival is to be held on the month of February from 12 – 14 February 2014. This festival is being organized every year by the R.T.D.C. (Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation). Jaisalmer Desert Festival is a three day event in which the visitors –
get to see beautiful arts and crafts of Rajasthan which are designed specially designed for the tourists. Some of the major attractions of Jaisalmer Desert Festival include folk music, dances, curio stalls, vibrant bazaars, camel race, turban tying contest, traditional gymnastics, puppet shows, camel dance, mystical snake charmers, jugglers, camel polo, longest moustache contest, Mr. Desert contest and many more.
Desert Festival at jaisalmer portrays the culture and tradition of Rajasthan and is pretty popular among tourists from India as well as abroad. All these events are held against the background of the Jaisalmer Fort which is an architectural wonder in itself. During night time there is this beautiful display of fireworks which light up the entire region. There are arrangements of lighting in Jaisalmer Fort which makes its illuminate during night time. This three day event has managed to glorify the rich culture and heritage of Jaisalmer. The festival ends on the auspicious day of Purnima (the full moon day).
