Mauni Amavasya is one of the most important days of celebration of the Math month of Hindu calendar. Mauni Amavasya is also called as the name of Mauna Amavasya. Mauni Amavasya is a no moon day of this Magh month which varies during the months of January to February of English Calendar. Mauni Amavasya is the most important day of Hindu religion. It is the day of Kumbh Mela. There is another ritual importance of a religious bath on Prayag at the place of Allahabad.

The word Mauni or Mauna has a spiritual mean in Hindu religion, according to the Hindu mythology Mauni means an individual who engage in silence worship activities during the month of Magh of Hindu Calendar. Mauna Amavasya is also called or known as the name of Chollangi Amavasya in the state of Andhra Pradesh and as the name of Darsh Amavasya in other parts of India. This is the time of a big fair of India the ‘Kumbh ka Mela’ which is a largest fair of India and it participated by most of the population once during their life.
