Maa Saraswati

Saraswati puja is observed in the Magh month, according to Hindu calendar. Vedas represents goddess Saraswati as a water goddess. The holy river Saraswati has a great religious significance. It is originated from Himalaya’s mountain. After the long journey Saraswati river merge with the Ganga and Yamuna rivers at Prayag. The combination of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers is known as a “Triveni Sangam”.

It is considered that goddess Saraswati is an inventor of Sanskrit language. She is a goddess of education, speech, knowledge and literature. Matsya Puran describes that goddess Saraswati produced from the mouth of Lord Brahma. It believed that she is a most unique creation of the Brahma in the Universe.

How To Worship Goddess Saraswati:

Devotees set up a picture or idol of goddess Saraswati facing on east direction. They decorate her with white dress; it defines the purity of goddess. The entire place is decorated with rangolis and floral design.

A design of fish on that place is considered auspicious. Family members get early bath and they wear yellow color dress. They bring together in front of goddess Saraswati for worship. They offer flowers and perform prayers to goddess.

Saraswati Mantras:

1). Ya Kundendu tushaara haaradhavalaa, Yaa shubhravastraavritha
Ya veenavara dandamanditakara, Yaa shwetha padmaasana
Yaa brahmaachyutha shankara, prabhritibhir Devaisadaa Vanditha
Saa Maam Paatu Saraswatee Bhagvati, Nihshesha jaadyaapahaa.

2). Shuklaam Brahmvichaar Saar Paramaadyaam Jagadvyaapineem Veennaa Pushtak
Dhaarinneebhamay Daam Jaad Yaapandhkaaraapahaam.


Haste Sfatik Maalikaam Vidhateem Paramaasane Sansthitaam Vande Taam
Parameshwareem Bhagwateem Buddhi Pradaam Shaaradaam.
