Lord Vishnu is one of the supreme gods of Hindu religion. He is known as the preserver and protector of creation. According to the Vishnu Sahasranama, he is referred to as supreme soul (Paramatman) and supreme god (Parameshwara). In puranas Lord Vishnu is portrayed as having the divine color of water with four hands, holding chakra, shankha, lotus and mace. In Bhagavad Gita Lord Vishnu is mentioned as having a Vishvarupa form (Universal Form).

Lord Vishnu is often shown resting on his coiled serpent Shesha with Lakshmi, his consort massaging his feet. There is a balance of good and evil in the world, but whenever the evil gets the upper hand and the balance is disturbed, Lord Vishnu incarnates in a form of human to restore balance in the world.
