believed that Goddess Sita was born on Tuesday in Pushya Nakshatra. This day is also known as Sita Jayanti. Married women keeps vrata on Sita Navami day and pray for long lives of their husbands.

Goddess Sita was married to Lord Rama who was also born on Navami Tithi during Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month. Goddess Sita was the wonderful mate of Lord Sri Rama Chandra and is now worshiped by millions who pay service to her pativratam. It is the most important day for married Hindu women in the country.

On this day, devotees keep fasts and pray to Sita Devi to grant their husbands long lives. Lord Rama and Sita Devi are also prayed together for wealth of the family and for peace and happiness in marriage. Devotees including men and women perform the Ramayana paath during Janaki Mata Jayanti. Mata Sita is also known as Janaki as she was the adopted daughter of King Janaka of Maithili. This day is also known as Janaki Navami.

According to Hindu legends once when King Janaka was ploughing the land to behavior a Yajna, he found a baby girl in the Golden safe. A ploughed land is called Sita; King Janaka named the baby girl as Sita. Married women observe this fast for the peace and happiness of their married life. Ram Navami

Ram Navami is also known as Shri Rama Navami. It is a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Rama. It is ninth day festival called Vasanta Navaratri. It occurs in the month of March begin with a prayer to the Sun early in the morning.

Ramnavami Festival Celebration :

Ramnavami can also be found in the Kalika puran. Hindu devotees fast on the day and puja’s are performed at noon, as it is believed that Lord Ram was born at this time.

Some people fast on this day. People can eat potatoes in any form without haldi, garlic, ginger or onion. People can eat fruit vegetables, curd, tea, coffee, milk and water. Ram Navami is celebrated in India. On this festival, every temple and house is kept clean. The singing of Bhajans goes on for the puja.

The Prasad is distributed among all the people who have gathered for worship. It is one of the five major holy festivals and it is said that keeping this fast, they will get what they want. The original pooja is dedicated to the 9 forms of Devi maha Shakti. these are celebrated in the form of the little girls when we provide for foods and clothes etc we are doing this to the Devi in the form of girls.
