Saraswati Puja is celebrated on the fifth day of Magh month in the spring season. This day is entirely committed to goddess Saraswati. People worshiped knowledge, arts, music and literature on this spiritual occasion.

This day is also celebrated as a ‘Vasant Panchami Festival’. Devotees worshiped goddess Saraswati to get four aspects of human life.

Devotees worshiped goddess Saraswati to find their real interests and aptitude.

People want to be aware and attentive about everything in life.

It is essential to create self image.

Vasant Panchami Celebrations:

Vasant panchami is celebrated with a great vivacity to mark the beginning of the spring season and end of the winter season. On this occasion mustard flowers has big importance. People used to wear clothes of yellow color and they also use yellow flowers in worship. (more…)

Saraswati Puja takes place in a spring season. During her worship time Vasant Panchami festival also celebrated with a massive excitement. She is called as a “Mother of The Vedas”. She is considered a creation of Lord Brahma. According to Skanda Puran, she is related with lord Shiva and his son Ganesh.

The trinity of goddess Kali, Saraswati and goddess Lakshmi is known as a Maha Saraswati. Maha Saraswati has eight arms. It is considered that Maha Saraswati is a daughter of goddess Gowri. She had killed Shumbha and other demons. She supports the base of three worlds.

How to Perform Saraswati Puja :

According to Vedic calendar, Saraswati Puja takes place on the fifth day of Magh month. On this day, people keep their books and instruments in front of goddess picture or statue and worship her.

It is believed that on this occasion book reading is not permitted. Devotees offered honey to goddess Saraswati. Honey signifies a perfect and true knowledge.

In the south states Saraswati Puja observed during the Navratri time, a nine day long celebration dedicated to goddess Shakti. Mentors or Gurus are also worshiped on this day as a personification of goddess Saraswati.
