The Famous Chithrai Festival of Kerala:

The Chithrai Festival is famous in Madurai temple. It is in Tamil Nadu. Chithrai festival starts from April- May. It ends on the tenth day. It is celebrated on the fifth day of the Tamil month. It is held at Meenakshi Temple in Madurai. In Maasi streets of the Madurai the parades take place. In this festival firstly flag is hosted. This festival is celebrated with excitement and joy.

It is the marriage of the Goddess Meenakshi and Lord Sundereswar (Lord Shiva) is celebrated in Madurai. Meenakshi Temple is the one biggest temple in India. This festival is also celebrated in Malaysia, it is known as Panguni Uttiram. The most important celebration is held at the end of the festival.

Chithrai Festival is connected with Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu came to Madurai in Meenakshi temple to attend the marriage ceremony of Lord Sundereswar and Goddess Meenakshi. Lord Vishnu came to Madurai on golden horse.

The Chithrai festival starts the beginning of the financial year. The images of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are taken to Vaigai River. Thousands of devotees come together to join in this occasion.

The festival is celebrated and enjoyed. The Chithrai Festival is a large opportunity to practice local life in Madurai, and see a traditional Hindu wedding. The devotees donate coconuts, flowers and Agarbattis. A trade show and fairs prepared for occasion.
