Goverdhan Pooja is a fourth day festival of Diwali. At the time of Goverdhan Pooja worshiped to Lord Krishna. Goverdhan Pooja is a part of the festival of Diwali. Goverdhan word refers for Gau means cows and verdhan for increase. Goverdhan Pooja celebrated with very enthusiastic mud by the peoples of all norths India. Goverdhan Pooja is also known as the name of Padwa.

Legend Behind Goverdhan Pooja :

Once a time in Gokul the place of Lord Krishna people were worship to Lord Indra after every monsoon season. They worshiped for Lord Indra for rains. But Lord Krishna said them to prohibit worshiping of Lord Krishna. He taught them that rains are the result of Goverdhan Parvat.

it is not a cause of Indra. People did agree with him. but it made Lord Indra angry so he had gave a heavy rain to Gokulvasi. Lord Krishna lifted the Goverdhan Parvat on his little finger to save them. That’s why the Lord Krishna called as Goverdhan or Goverdhandhari.

Goverdhan Pooja is not only a part of Diwali occasion but also it is a ceremony relates to Lord Krishna. On this festival day people plays with cows and worshiped for Lord Krishna. On the festival of Goverdhan Pooja the Anna-koot, Padwa and Gudi Padwa

are celebrated by the people.
