Karva Chauth is one of the major festivals for married women belong to Hindu religion. This festival is a celebration of women with a crucial fast for whole day from before sunrise period to moonrise period. Karva Chauth observes on fourth day after the full moon day of Kartik month of Hindu calendar. This festival is observed by married women for long life of their husband.

Majority it is a festival of Hindu community but some of the Sikh women also observe this festival in India and Pakistan too. Those married women observe a ritual and hard fast without taking a drop of water for whole day during Karva Chauth Vrat. Some of unmarried women also observe this ritual fast for long life of their fiancé or in desire of their future husband.

Karva Chauth festival is major celebrated in northwestern part of India. there is a myth behind popularity of Karva Chauth in this part of India. some of the people thought that in ancient time of this part husband go far from their houses for some specific purpose or for business purpose but in this side there was a lake of water. So married women observe fasts for their husband safety. There is another story behind this celebration of Karva Chauth some of the people believed this festival observe for Wheat. In this area Karva is called for wheat.
