Mahashivratri Festival Recipes :

Mahashivratri is one of the major celebrations of India of lord Shiva. It is day when people in the country worship the lord Shiva for their batter fortune and peaceful life. Mahashivratri is a festival which is marks to the birth of lord Shiva on the earth.

It is festival which is celebrated on the fourth day of Krishna Paksha of Phalgun month of Hindu calendar. This is a  celebration which we can not be imagining without preparing of delicious meals or foods.

During this festival people observes a ritual fast for lord Shiva. But this is also the day to enjoy with some especial Recipes according to ritual acts of the day to worship of lord Shiva. There are several types of the recipes of the day of Mahashivratri as following.

  • Aloo Khichdi
  • Saboodana Kheer
  • Thandai
  • Vrat Ke / Parsai Ke Chawal
  • Green Gram Fry
  • Sabodana Khichdi
  • Shivratri Raita

Those above are the major recipes of the day. People in various corners of the country prepare those of the recipes during time of Mahashivratri to make this festival something especial for them and for their families.

Thandai is the major recipes of the festival which is uses by each of the part of India. Thandai is the most famous drink of lord Shiva so people on this day

take this drink as the ‘Prasad of lord Shiva’. Saboodana Kheer and Parsai Ke Chawal are the major meal for the people who keep fast on this day.

    Well i wanted to chk some recipes for Shivaratri and found a that you have mentioned the festival as birth of Lord Shiva which is incorrect.. its actually his wedding night.
    Do correct it..
