India’s most special celebration celebrated on 15 August. When was india got freedom After more than two hundred years of British rule. It was a new beginning of new nation and the country was divided into India and Pakistan. It was on the eve of 15th of August, 1947 that India tricolor flag was unfurled by the first Prime Minister of India Jawahar Lal Nehru on the ramparts the Red Fort of Delhi.

The Independence Day is celebrated with much enthusiasm all over the country and especially in the capital, New Delhi where the celebrations start with great pomp. The day is celebrated the birth of the world’s largest democracy and all Government Organisations have a holiday as a national holiday.

Thousands of peoples celebrated with cultural programs in the state capitals in Delhi. The Prime Minister’s speech at the Red Fort in Delhi is the major highlight. It is the social celebration in which people participate in large number.

Schools, and people hoist the national flag through out the country and put them up on the top of roof and the buildings. On this occasion official people’s only go to offices to attend the flag ceremony. On this day major attractions of children used to play with numerous kites of all colors, sizes and shapes symbolizing the freedom.
