A new sari is a must for the first Karwa Chauth of a girl. One thing to be taken care of is that the sari reaches the girl’s in-laws home, where the girl is staying, before the evening. This fast is unique as the wife has neither a morsel of food nor drop of water for the whole day, just to pray for her husbands’ long life and well-being. Spiritually fasting helps create a connection with God, and also helps in establishing a co-ordination between body and mind.

The husbands also take an active part in Karwa Chauth by gifting their wives for the fast they kept for their long life. The gifts include jewellery, saris, accessories that should implicate nothing but pure love for their wives. So keep a Karwa Chauth vrath for your husband, for his longevity and security.
