Somvati Amavasya is also known as Somavati Amavasya is a ritual folk festival of India. This is the festival which is celebrated on the no moon day. It is the festival which is celebrated by the most of the people belongs to various Hindu communities of India.

On that day people worship the ‘Pavitra Ganga and Yamuna rivers’. They take the holistic bath on that day to make the lord happy. Somvati Amavasya is a famous festival or occasion for both married and unmarried people. It is the time of donation and ritual activities to be perform. This occasion of Somvati Amavasya comes on the day of Monday the Somavar.

People not only worship but also practices a struggling fast without taking a drop of water to perform their ritual thoughts. Somvati Amavasya is the festival falling in no moon day of Amavasya on Somvar in any of the month. This is the festival to perform the acts of ‘Trapan’ to ancestors. People also involves with devotional singing and dancing during the occasion of Somavati Amavasya.
